What an offer on Depop is

Offers let you propose a price different from the listed one. The current help says that Make Offer is available between users in the same country. For a Spanish guide, this avoids assuming that any international buyer will be able to use exactly the same flow.

An offer is not a closed sale. The owner must keep proposal, acceptance and payment separate so that the seller does not treat a negotiation as money already secured.

14 days to respond

The current help gives the recipient 14 days to respond to an offer. They can accept, decline or make a counter-offer, depending on the flow available.

Do not use this deadline as artificial pressure. It is an operational window, not evidence of real interest or a guarantee of purchase.

Accepting does not reserve or complete the sale

When an offer is accepted, the buyer still has to complete the purchase. The current help allows another 14 days to do so. Until payment is completed, do not present the item as sold or assume the deal is closed.

This distinction matters for Barguvo: OFFER ≠ SOLD. An accepted negotiated price should not feed a history of closed sales either if no purchase ultimately took place.

Counter-offers and the seller's minimum

Set your minimum before negotiating. To decide on a counter-offer, consider ASKING, the selling fee, PayPal, shipping and your desired margin. Do not use universal percentages such as “always go down 20 %”.

A counter-offer is for stating your threshold, not for manipulating the buyer. If the cost changes or you discover a relevant defect, update the listing information before continuing.

Work out the net amount before accepting

In Spain, the current official selling fee is 10 % and PayPal processing is variable. If the listing is boosted and the sale is attributed according to policy, there may also be an 8 % boosting fee. Calculate these components separately before deciding.

An offer that looks high can leave an insufficient net amount. Likewise, raising the asking price just to simulate a discount can harm the clarity of the listing.

Negotiate inside Depop

Do not move the negotiation to WhatsApp, e-mail or another channel to avoid fees or to request external payments. Depop recommends keeping sales inside the app or website and being wary of links that ask for personal data.

Barguvo can suggest arguments or help you compare scenarios, but it does not send the offer for you or host the marketplace chat.

Simple decision tree

If the offer exceeds your net minimum and no information is pending, you can consider accepting it. If it is close to the minimum, a counter-offer based on real costs is easier to defend. If it is clearly below, declining may be more consistent than chaining arbitrary discounts.

After accepting, wait for the actual purchase before treating the transaction as closed. If it is not completed within the applicable window, manage the item again according to what Depop shows.
