Spain: tell Depop and PayPal apart
Depop's help pages describe different flows depending on the payment method. For a purchase paid through PayPal, Depop refers the buyer to the PayPal Resolution Center to open the dispute. This is especially relevant in Spain because the current flow for sellers outside the UK/US/AUS uses PayPal.
Do not promise “Depop Protection in Spain” as if it were confirmed territorial coverage: R82 closed that conflict by giving priority to the territory-specific pages. Barguvo explains the process without inventing protection.
Item significantly not as described
If the item received does not match the listing in a meaningful way, document the difference with clear photos and a specific explanation. Examples of serious problems can include the wrong item, severe undeclared defects, the wrong colour or size, or authenticity concerns.
Not every disagreement is automatically eligible: a garment that does not fit well, a change of mind or minor normal signs of second-hand use may fall outside, depending on the applicable policy.
48 hours to respond and 7 days to return
In the flows described by the Help Centre, when an issue is opened the seller has 48 hours to respond. If a return is agreed or required, the buyer must send it within 7 days and use tracking, keeping the receipt.
These time limits describe specific steps; do not turn them into a false general policy of “free returns for 30 days”. The 30-day period appears in certain issues or windows for raising problems, not as a universal right of withdrawal against any private seller.
Order not received
Depop advises checking the tracking first and contacting the seller. Some help pages allow an issue to be escalated when more than 5 days have passed without shipping or an update in the relevant flows. For PayPal payments, the dispute is handled in PayPal.
A lack of tracking does not prove fraud on its own, but it does reduce the evidence available. That is why the shipping owner insists on tracking and proof of dispatch.
How to return in a defensible way
Follow the address and instructions provided by the dispute process. Use a carrier with tracking and keep the receipt. Do not send the item back to an improvised address given in an external chat if it contradicts the formal flow.
When the tracking confirms delivery, follow the system's steps so that the corresponding refund is processed. Do not assume the refund is instant or that it includes all payment costs.
What the seller should do when an issue is raised
Respond within the stated time limit, provide tracking or evidence, and avoid defensive messages without data. If the item really was misdescribed, resolving it promptly is usually better than dragging out a baseless dispute.
Do not retrospectively edit photos or the description to hide a defect. The evidence must preserve the real state of the sale.
Separating change of mind, defect and authenticity
Barguvo should classify the problem before suggesting the next step: change of mind, not received, significantly not as described, damage, wrong item or possible counterfeit. Each category may trigger different policies.
Nor should a suspicion of counterfeiting be presented as a certainty based on a photograph alone. Describe the signs, keep the evidence and use the appropriate dispute channel.

FAQ
Do I have 30 days to return any purchase?
No. The 30 days appear in certain issue windows; they are not a universal right to return for a change of mind.
What happens if I paid with PayPal?
Depop refers disputes over PayPal purchases to the PayPal Resolution Center.
How long does the seller have to respond?
The current help pages describe 48 hours in the relevant issue flows.
How long is there to return the item once it has been agreed?
The current help page states 7 days and requires tracking.
Does a change of mind oblige a private seller to refund?
Not necessarily; the policy distinguishes a change of mind from covered problems.
Is a suspicion of counterfeiting proof?
No. Document the signs and use the formal dispute channel; a suspicion is not the same as certainty.
Does Barguvo process the refund?
No. It explains and organises evidence; the dispute is handled in Depop or PayPal, as appropriate.
