Before listing: check the item, the account and the rules
A good listing starts with knowing whether the item can be listed and whether your account type fits the activity you are going to carry out.
Vinted acts as an intermediary: the seller lists the item and remains responsible for the listing being truthful and for having the right to sell it. Before thinking about the title or price, confirm that the item belongs to a permitted category, that you can describe its condition accurately and that you are not trying to turn a standard account into a professional activity that should go through Vinted Pro.
Personal use. The catalogue rules list signals that may be considered commercial activity.
Separate account for a registered business when the service is available and the activity corresponds to a professional seller.
Category, authenticity and condition must comply with the current Catalogue Rules.
Photos: on Vinted they are not edited
The current rules require your own images that are faithful to the item; here Vinted’s rule prevails over any general photo-enhancement capability.
As of this review, the Catalogue Rules state that photos must show the item as it is and that editing them is not allowed. They must also be yours, not stock photos or reused from other listings; the first must clearly show the whole item, and up to 20 images per item are currently allowed.
Do not digitally “clean up” defects or change the background if that alters the image
The rule published by Vinted is stricter than Barguvo’s general contract: for this platform we do not recommend editing the listing photo while that rule remains in force.
Title, category, brand, condition and description
The aim is not to fill in fields: it is to reduce ambiguity so the buyer understands exactly what they will receive.
Describe the product’s identity first and then its condition. Avoid brand tags that do not apply, irrelevant words or claims of authenticity you cannot back up. If a part is missing, there is a repair or the item shows wear, it must appear in the text and, when visible, in the photos too.
Clarity also helps avoid later disputes: the more specific the description, the easier it is to compare what was received with what was listed.
Price: context, not a magic formula
The starting price is a decision; there is no universal percentage that works for every item or every moment.
Start from the condition, demand, rarity, total cost to the buyer and comparables you can justify. Always distinguish a listed price from a sale that was actually completed. If you only have active listings, treat them as market signals, not as proof that the item is “worth” exactly that figure.
May justify a competitive price if your priority is time.
Aims for a reasonable negotiation margin without straying from the available evidence.
May lengthen the time to sell and needs more support from condition, rarity or demand.
Promotion services may increase exposure, but they do not turn a listing into a guaranteed sale. We do not promise results or “secret hours”.
Barguvo can help you organise fields, defects and evidence without listing for you.
What happens after listing
Vinted separates listing, offer, purchase, shipping and completion; do not confuse an intermediate signal with a completed sale.
The item enters the catalogue if it complies with the rules.
There may be favourites, messages or offers.
The sale is completed only when the buyer purchases and the payment is accepted.
The flow/label for that order is used.
The payment is released when the transaction ends according to the applicable flow.
An accepted offer is not enough to consider the item sold: the buyer may still not complete the purchase. If you want to go deeper into that stage, use the offers guide.
Visibility: documented factors, not hacks
Vinted publishes parameters it may use to recommend content, but their weights may vary and they are not a deterministic recipe.
The documented factors include the age of the listing, interactions, country and language, price, item characteristics, photos, condition, listing frequency, seller type, search/filters, description, image similarity, history and promoted content. That list explains possible signals; it does not allow anyone to claim “do X and you will appear first”.

A short final review reduces mistakes that later cost messages, cancellations or disputes.
When your listing is ready, carry out the final action directly on Vinted.
Practical cases: turning scattered information into a defensible listing
A strong listing is not the one that sounds best, but the one that lets another person reconstruct what the item is, what condition it is in and what it includes.
1. Garment with normal wear
Imagine a used jacket with rubbing on the cuffs and a small mark on the inside. The right decision is not to hide it because “you can hardly see it”, nor to dramatise it as if the garment were unusable. Photograph both cuffs in neutral light, add an overall shot and describe the mark specifically. The buyer can decide whether that wear fits the price. If the image only shows the garment from a distance and the description says “like new”, the gap between expectation and reality grows.
The condition must be consistent across three layers: the condition selected on Vinted, the text and the photos. If one layer contradicts the others, correct it before listing. Barguvo would treat that inconsistency as something to review, not as an automatic attempt to deceive.
2. Item with accessories or separate parts
In electronics, toys, collectibles or accessories, the price often depends on what is included. “Complete” must mean something verifiable: charger, box, manual, parts, strap, case or any relevant component. Take a group photo of the lot and then details of the parts that matter. If something normally expected is missing, say so. This prevents a buyer from mentally filling in a catalogue photo and assuming they will receive components you never promised.
If you do not know whether a part is original, do not present it as original. You can write that it is included and describe what is observable. UNKNOWN is preferable to a claim you cannot back up.
3. Brand, model or size with uncertainty
A partially faded label, an old size or a hard-to-identify edition is not resolved by inventing the most likely detail. Photograph the label, measure when useful and explain the uncertainty. In fashion, a real measurement can be more useful than blindly relying on a nominal size. For technical items, a visible code can help identify the variant, but avoid publishing numbers that may be sensitive if they are not necessary.
4. Gift, inheritance or item without an invoice
Not having an invoice does not make the item fake, just as having an invoice does not authenticate it on its own. Describe what you know: declared provenance, approximate age if you know it, available documentation and observable elements. If the buyer needs more certainty, they can ask for additional information or use a verification service when the item is eligible.
5. High price with few references
When there are few comparable units, avoid filling the gap with a precise figure that looks scientific. You can start from similar listings, completed sales available from other compatible sources, condition and rarity, but the result must communicate uncertainty. A listed price of 300 € does not prove that anyone paid 300 €. If the evidence is weak, the range and the confidence must reflect it.
Condition, measurements, label, accessories, defects and your own photos.
Origin, age or use that the seller states and can put into context.
A detail you cannot confirm and should not fill in with an assumption.
6. Before pressing publish
Read the listing as if you did not know the product. Ask yourself: is it clear what the buyer will receive? Is there a sentence that sounds more certain than the available evidence? Can the defect I mention be seen? Have I chosen a brand or category just for visibility? Am I giving out personal data that is not needed? This final review usually adds more quality than adding promotional words.
Barguvo criteria: useful listing help without becoming marketplace automation
Barguvo prepares, checks and structures; listing and Vinted actions still belong to Vinted.
The separation is deliberate. An assistant can help you spot that a photo of the defect is missing, that the description contradicts the selected condition or that you are using a price without enough basis. But it does not need to log in for you, list automatically, send messages, add favourites or relist items. That boundary reduces errors and keeps the user responsible for the final decision.
It also avoids designing around supposed “hacks”. If Vinted publishes recommendation parameters, they can be explained as ranking factors. They should not be turned into guaranteed tactics. For example, the fact that listing age is a parameter does not mean that repeatedly deleting and relisting is a valid strategy; the current T&Cs specifically prohibit repeatedly relisting the same item.
When Barguvo suggests editorial improvements, it must respect Vinted’s specific rule on photos. It can recommend which angles are missing, which defect is worth documenting or what text information to add, but not offer a retouched photo as a listing step. The Vinted exception is kept even if other platforms allow certain presentation improvements.
Finally, the aim of the guide is not to ensure a sale. A listing can be correct and not sell because of price, demand, seasonality, competition or simply because the right buyer does not come along. The useful metric is that the listing is understandable, defensible and compliant with the rules; the commercial result is never a guarantee.
Listing step by step: what to check in each field before moving to the next
A deliberate sequence prevents the listing from ending up as a sum of disconnected decisions.
Start with the item’s identity
Before writing a persuasive description, identify the item. Brand, model, size, material, edition or reference are included only if they really belong to that unit. If identification depends on a hard-to-read label, photograph the label and keep the uncertainty until it is confirmed. This is especially important for items with many variants, where a wrong word can attract the wrong buyer.
Choose category and attributes for accuracy
The category is not a visibility trick. It helps the platform and the buyer understand what you are offering. If a seemingly more popular category does not apply, do not use it. The same goes for brand, colour, condition or size: selecting the “most favourable” attribute does not improve the quality of the listing if it contradicts what is observable.
Describe the condition in concrete language
“Good condition” can mean different things. Add facts: approximate number of uses if you know it, visible rubbing, repair, stains, sole wear, degraded battery, replaced part, missing packaging or accessory. There is no need to list every irrelevant micro-sign, but you should mention any condition that could change a buyer’s reasonable decision.
Make photos and text support each other
A photo can better show a surface mark; the text can explain where it is and whether it affects use. If the defect is only mentioned in a corner of the description and the photos hide it, the listing remains ambiguous. If a photo seems to show a defect that does not exist, add a clearer shot instead of editing the image to erase it.
Measurements and sizing
In fashion and home goods, useful measurements reduce returns and questions. Measure using an understandable method and say what the figure represents. Do not turn a home measurement into an industrial tolerance. If the garment is stretchy or the shape is irregular, explain how you measured.
Accessories, box and documentation
List what the buyer will receive. If the box is included but damaged, say so; if the charger is compatible but you do not know whether it is original, do not call it original. If there is an invoice, avoid exposing personal data in the listing photos. Provenance can be provided without publishing unnecessary information.
Price and negotiation margin
Decide in advance whether your price is firm, balanced or leaves room. You do not need to write a universal formula. If you accept offers, set your minimum before you receive them. That way a counter-offer does not change your criteria simply because you have already invested time talking to the buyer.
Promotion and recommendations
Optional visibility services are a spending decision. Assess whether the item’s margin and your selling priority justify paying for them. Do not present a promotion as a guarantee of sale. Likewise, do not use external automations for favourites, messages or relisting: besides being poor evidence of real demand, the current T&Cs restrict those tools.
After the purchase
When the buyer pays, the goal changes: you are no longer optimising the listing; you must follow the order flow. Check the label, deadline, packaging and tracking. If the item goes through verification, follow the route generated. If an issue arises, do not try to resolve it by editing the original listing: use the order and the returns guide.
What it means for a listing to be “ready”
It does not mean it is perfect or that it will sell. It means a third party can understand what the item is, what condition it is in, what it includes, what uncertainties remain and at what price you are offering it. That traceability is the standard Barguvo tries to protect.
Before listing: final consistency check
listing is not filling in fields; it is checking that the photo, text, condition, price and what you will actually deliver tell the same story.
Do one last read as if you were the buyer and did not know the item. Does the title identify the product without embellishment? Do the category and attributes fit? Do the photos show the real condition? Does the description mention defects, modifications, missing items or accessories that could change the decision? If an answer depends on “I will explain it in the chat”, the listing can still be improved.
Consistency matters more than filling every field with as much text as possible. A garment listed as “very good condition” but with visible wear needs a description that acknowledges it; a pair of trainers without a box should not be photographed next to someone else’s box that could be mistaken for part of the sale; a device with a compatible but non-original accessory must make that distinction. The aim is not to make the listing less attractive, but to reduce ambiguity before a purchase exists.
Also review the price from two perspectives. First, what evidence you have: comparable listings, observed sales where they exist, condition, edition, demand and accessories. Second, what decision you want to make: sell quickly, wait for a better offer or keep a negotiation margin. Barguvo can organise those signals, but it must not turn a price listed by another seller into proof of value or fabricate a universal discount percentage.
On Vinted there is an additional check: the photos you upload must respect the platform’s current rule. Do not use Barguvo’s general image-enhancement capability to retouch the Vinted listing while its rules prohibit editing photos. If you need a better photo, retake it with better light, framing and a physical background, keeping defects, colour and real characteristics.
Finally, separate preparing from executing. Barguvo can help you with the checklist, clarity, comparables and wording; listing, editing the listing, accepting an offer, completing a sale or using promotional features happens on Vinted. That boundary avoids fragile automations and keeps the guide valid even if the interface changes.
FAQ
Does it cost money to sell on Vinted?
The standard flow does not charge a fee for uploading or selling the item, although there are optional services for sellers and the buyer pays the Buyer Protection fee. Always check the current interface.
Can photos be edited for Vinted?
As of this review, no. The Catalogue Rules state that images must present the item as it is and that editing them is not allowed.
How many photos can I upload?
The currently published rule allows up to 20 photos per item. This is a changing detail and should be revalidated if Vinted changes its rules.
What happens if I accept an offer?
Accepting a counter-offer does not automatically sell the item. The buyer must complete the purchase and the payment must be accepted.
Can I sell professionally with a normal account?
Vinted distinguishes the standard account from the Pro scheme. If you sell as a business, review the Vinted Pro requirements and the applicable regulations.
Are there tricks to appear first?
Vinted publishes recommendation factors, but their weights vary. There is no official formula that guarantees a specific position.
Operational information revalidated on 25/08/2026. The details Vinted shows in the app or checkout —costs, eligibility, carriers, categories and deadlines communicated for a specific order— prevail when they are more specific.
