The risk model: signal, evidence and conclusion
The best protection is not a list of “tricks”, but checking whether the behaviour fits the real flow.
Milanuncios warns about phishing that arrives by email, WhatsApp, SMS or phone calls and appears to come from the platform. The aim may be to steal passwords, bank details or personal information. For Barguvo, the starting point is separating what you observe from what you infer: receiving an external message is a fact; the message asking the seller for a card to “get paid” is a strong signal of incompatibility with the official flow; stating who is behind the fraud requires more evidence.
Message, domain, specific request, link, price, profile or conversation that you can show.
Behaviour that increases or reduces risk, but does not on its own prove identity or intent.
Operational decision: continue, ask for evidence, return to the official flow or stop the transaction.
This approach avoids two mistakes. The first is trusting because the profile looks old or verified. The second is accusing because the price is low or the person writes badly. Safety improves when each indicator has a proportionate weight and there is a safe way out: stop and verify from the official account.
Safe channel: where each action should happen
The most convincing attacks imitate real steps, but move the action to an outside link, app or form.
Milanuncios’ help recommends keeping dealings and the chat within the platform whenever possible. With Express, the buyer starts the purchase from the listing’s button and card details are entered within the corresponding flow. Milanuncios also states that it does not ask you to install third-party apps and does not later ask for your card number by message or SMS to process the payment.
Check that the transaction originates from the real listing.
Keep questions and material agreements in the chat.
If Express is available, the buyer uses the official button.
The seller checks acceptance, shipping and wallet from their account.
If something does not add up, open the official help yourself.
Do not use a link you received to check whether “you have been paid”
Go directly to Milanuncios from your bookmark or app and check the status there. The visual design of an external website does not prove that it is legitimate.
Phishing patterns that warrant stopping the transaction
The combination of urgency, an external link and a request incompatible with your role is more informative than a single isolated signal.
Among the patterns described by Milanuncios are messages announcing an advance payment, fake pages for receiving money, communications asking for credentials or private data and contacts inviting you to install apps. As a seller, a request to enter your card details on the grounds of “receiving the payment” is especially inconsistent: the official flow does not need your card to pay you for a sale.
Check the transaction from your account; do not open a link from the SMS or WhatsApp.
The seller should not have to give their card to receive the Express payment.
Milanuncios states that it does not ask you to install third-party apps to use Express.
Do not hand over passwords or bank details from a link you received.
Odd grammar may accompany phishing, but it is not proof: a legitimate person may write with errors and an attacker may write perfectly. Prioritise objective incompatibilities with the official process.
Emails, domains and communications: checking without memorising an endless list
The domains documented today may change; the safe habit is to verify from a current official source.
The safety help currently states that communications may come from Milanuncios domains and, in the context of Express, also mentions @marketpay.io; other pages specify no-responder@milanuncios.com for transactional messages. These references are useful for spotting inconsistencies, but they should not become a permanent whitelist copied blindly: domains, providers and formats can change.
If the email asks you to take a sensitive action, avoid clicking the link and go to Milanuncios manually. This neutralises much of the value of phishing: even if the attacker copies the logo, tone and name of the service, they do not control your legitimate session.
Express reduces certain risks, but does not authenticate the item
Holding the payment and using a shipping flow adds structure; it does not make the product or the other party infallible.
Milanuncios Express integrates payment and shipping in eligible listings and holds the amount until the receipt/confirmation process. This reduces certain problems with informal payments, but the help itself states that Milanuncios does not review or approve products bought or sold through Express. So do not use the Comprar (Buy) button as proof of authenticity, condition or ownership.
A recognisable flow, a held payment, Correos, traceability of the transaction and an issue procedure.
That the item is authentic, that it has no defects, that the description is complete or that the person could never act badly.
KYC also has a specific scope: the payment provider verifies identity to meet legal requirements and allow funds to be withdrawn. KYC is not a quality certificate for the seller or an inspection of the item.
Profile, ratings and price: contextual signals
Do not use a single metric to decide whether a transaction is safe.
A profile with a history or ratings can provide context about previous experiences. A verified phone number may indicate that a specific validation was completed. None of that data replaces checking the item. Likewise, a new account is not automatically fraudulent: every account was new once. Barguvo must be able to mark `UNKNOWN` when data is missing instead of manufacturing an accusation.
Find out why: condition, urgency, a mistake, an incomplete item or possible fraud. Do not draw a conclusion from the number alone.
Reduces certain uncertainties, but does not authenticate the product or a specific conversation.
They may be good real photos or reused material. Look for consistency and, if needed, ask for additional evidence.
For sensitive products, use specific guides. An iPhone requires device checks; a vehicle, documentation and mechanical condition; a motorbike, equivalent checks. The Milanuncios safety guide should not absorb those domains.
In-person transactions or those outside Express
When the platform does not manage the transaction, verifying the product, payment and context becomes more important.
Not every listing has Express. For an in-person handover, agree on a reasonable place and time, check that the product matches the description before closing and use a payment method suited to the amount and the transaction. Do not hand over the item based on a screenshot of a transfer or a message saying “payment held” without checking the payment through the corresponding channel.
For expensive items, keep proportionate evidence: the listing reference, the material conversation, photos of the condition and any identifier needed to describe the item. Avoid storing complete personal documents if they are not needed. Minimising data is also a safety measure.
What to keep if something goes wrong
Useful evidence is specific and traceable; piling up unnecessary personal data does not improve a claim.
The help page for reporting a scam asks for information that makes it possible to locate the listing and the person you dealt with. If a complaint is filed with the police, Milanuncios explains that the authorities can request data through its channel for official bodies. Barguvo does not need to become an identity repository: it can help you organise the facts without keeping more information than necessary.
Report, block and file a complaint
Stopping the damage and preserving evidence is more useful than continuing the conversation to “catch” someone.
If the listing looks fraudulent, Milanuncios has a function for reporting the listing. If you believe you have already been scammed, the help recommends contacting the platform as soon as possible with the reference and useful details, and also filing a complaint with the police where appropriate. Do not keep sending money or information to try to recover an earlier amount.
When the risk is only a doubt, frame a specific check: “does this request exist in my account?”, “is the Comprar (Buy) button active on the listing?”, “does this payment really appear in the official flow?”. Operational answers avoid arguments and reduce exposure.
A 60-second decision tree
A short sequence stops the urgency of a message from setting the pace of the transaction.
Do not open it if it is sent to you to get paid or to verify.
Go to Milanuncios yourself and look for the transaction.
Check consistency, condition and evidence.
Share only what is necessary within the legitimate flow.
Stop, check the help and report if appropriate.
The absence of a negative signal does not mean zero risk, and the presence of a soft signal does not mean fraud. The right decision may be to continue with caution, ask for more evidence or cancel. What Barguvo will not do is present an inference as a fact.
Official sources and review date
Figures and deadlines are checked again before publication because they can change.
The criteria of comparability, data minimisation, signals versus proof and the ASKING/SOLD separation are Barguvo’s editorial methodology, not claims made by Milanuncios.
Always check the data the platform shows for your listing, account and specific transaction.
FAQ
Will Milanuncios send me a link to receive a payment?
The safety help states that you should not trust external links to get paid; check the transaction by going to the platform yourself.
Do I have to give my card to get paid as a seller?
Not in the normal Express flow. A request for the seller’s card in order to receive money is a strong phishing signal.
Does KYC mean the seller is safe?
No. KYC verifies identity for the payment provider’s requirements and for withdrawing funds; it does not authenticate the item or guarantee future conduct.
Does a very low price prove a scam?
No. It is a signal that justifies more checks, not proof on its own.
What do I do if I have already been scammed?
Keep the reference and useful evidence, inform Milanuncios as soon as possible and consider filing a complaint with the police depending on the case.
Does Express eliminate the risk?
No. It provides a payment/shipping flow and an issue procedure, but Milanuncios states that it does not review or approve products.
Operational information revalidated on 25/08/2026. Prices, deadlines, carriers, Express availability, credits and rules may change; Milanuncios’ help and the specific flow prevail.
