How to sell a motorcycle on AutoScout24: free listing, photos and price

AutoScout24 keeps a dedicated motorcycle route with a free basic listing; selling well means showing the real wear and not inheriting car features by symmetry.

Evidence rule: ASKING, ESTIMATE and SOLD are different things. A price label, a valuation or a protected payment do not, on their own, certify the real condition of the vehicle.

AutoScout24 has a dedicated route for selling motorcycles in Spain

The Spanish page “Vende tu moto gratis” (Sell your motorcycle for free) confirms a flow dedicated to motorcycles and a free basic listing. The form starts with make and model and offers a manual route when the motorcycle does not appear in the list. This separation matters because a motorcycle should not be treated as a car with two wheels: the inspection, practical documentation, equipment, wear and what a person needs to see in the photos all change.

AutoScout24 structures the process in a similar way to selling a car —preparation, creating the listing, viewings and sale—, but the evidence must be specific to the motorcycle. Barguvo uses this owner for publishing and presentation; MOTO-CHECK keeps the physical inspection, history and administrative checks.

The free basic listing does not mean every feature is free. The page mentions Premium as a visibility option, without providing here a price or performance that R91 can state. Nor is SafeTrade inherited: the current source for the service talks about used cars between private individuals.

Preparing the motorcycle without erasing its history of use

Cleaning a motorcycle and photographing it in good light can greatly improve how well the listing is understood. AutoScout24 recommends a careful presentation, views from all sides and details. Barguvo adds an essential rule: keep the real wear in the image. Scratches on the fairing, marks on the exhaust, corrosion, damage to levers, tyres, chain, wheels, seat, panniers and accessories are all part of the evidence.

AI editing can balance the light or cut out the background, but it must not reconstruct a part, change the colour, erase a drop, alter a tyre or add equipment. If an accessory is handed over with the motorcycle, photograph it. If it is not included, do not let it appear ambiguously.

Include views that allow both sides to be compared, front and rear, frame, controls, wear areas, tyres and drivetrain when visible. On modified models, document the real configuration and avoid claiming type approval without the corresponding evidence.

Selling price: motorcycle comparables are ASKING, not SOLD

AutoScout24 recommends looking for comparable models to set a realistic price and, if you wish, leave room for negotiation. That recommendation works if you choose genuinely comparable motorcycles: same generation, engine size, version, year, mileage and equipment. A motorcycle restricted for a licence category, a special edition or a unit with accessories may not be equivalent to the first listing that shares the model name.

The price you see on the marketplace is ASKING. Even if a listing disappears, you do not necessarily know whether it sold or for how much. That is why Barguvo does not build a SOLD history from listings. Keep a range of comparables and adjust for the evidence of your unit: maintenance, consumables, drops, accessories, modifications and documentation.

If you need to explain why you are asking a certain figure, use facts: a recent documented service, tyres with a known date/condition, drive kit, included extras. Do not use “others sell for X” when you only know that others are listed for X.

Listing data and documentation: accuracy before filler

The motorcycle sales page advises having the documentation to hand and completing as much information as possible. That does not mean filling in doubtful fields to get a “more complete” listing. Version, power, first registration, mileage and modifications should be checked against the motorcycle and its documents.

If the platform suggests a model and your unit does not match, use the manual flow or correct the available data. A version error can affect searches and comparables, and a power error can be material for licences, insurance or buyer expectations. With accessories and modifications, distinguish what is fitted from what is original, and what is type-approved from what is simply mounted.

Avoid publishing complete documents containing personal data. The listing needs verifiable information, not indiscriminate copies of your DNI, permiso de circulación (registration certificate) or addresses. Keep those documents for the appropriate moment and channel.

Enquiries, viewing and test ride: the listing does not replace meeting the motorcycle

AutoScout24 recommends managing enquiries and viewings and being transparent about faults and accidents. With a motorcycle, a test ride can involve special risks and responsibilities. Check identity and licence where appropriate, agree the conditions of the test ride and avoid handing over the motorcycle or documentation without control. Barguvo does not prescribe a single test-ride policy because context, insurance and regulations can vary.

A useful conversation should focus on facts the listing can support: maintenance, drops, replaced parts, modifications, number of keys, consumables and use. If you do not know an answer, saying “I do not know” and proposing a check is better than improvising.

The buyer should have the opportunity to inspect the real motorcycle. A photo listing, however complete, does not replace MOTO-CHECK or a professional inspection when the risk or value justifies that step.

Premium is visibility; R91 does not invent price, duration or performance

AutoScout24 also mentions a Premium listing in the motorcycle route and presents it as an option to improve placement and visibility. In this context, the current page does not provide a rate or duration that Barguvo should freeze, much less a guaranteed percentage increase in contacts.

If you decide to use it, judge the feature by its purpose: additional exposure. Note when you activated it and what signals you observed afterwards, but do not automatically attribute every message to Premium. Listing quality, price, local demand and seasonality also play a part.

The absence of Premium does not make a motorcycle inferior, and its presence does not validate the condition. Visibility and evidence are different axes. This same rule avoids confusing a commercial promotion with a seal of trust.

Do not assume SafeTrade for motorcycles

SafeTrade has a very explicit current page: it is available for second-hand car transactions between private individuals and excludes new cars/business sales at this time. R91 finds no equivalent first-party extension for motorcycles. That is why this guide does not present SafeTrade as an available method for selling a motorcycle.

The editorial rule matters because interface symmetry does not create a feature. The fact that AutoScout24 sells cars and motorcycles and that SafeTrade exists within the ecosystem is not enough to automatically copy the same protection to another category.

If AutoScout24 publishes unequivocal support for motorcycles in the future, the information must pass a new freshness gate before being incorporated. Until then, any payment is handled through the real options that appear for the specific transaction, and Barguvo neither executes nor receives money.

MOTO-CHECK: what you should verify outside the sales form

MOTO-CHECK keeps responsibility for inspection and history: identification, documentation, ITV (roadworthiness test) where applicable, charges or administrative status, motorcycle-specific tyres, brakes, suspension, steering, drivetrain, leaks, signs of a drop, modifications and test ride. The listing can describe these elements, but it does not certify them.

For the seller, using that checklist before publishing helps spot statements that need qualifying. For the buyer, it prevents a careful presentation from becoming a substitute for an inspection. A good price and nice photos do not prove a healthy motorcycle.

The boundary also protects Barguvo’s SEO architecture: this page answers “how to sell/list on AutoScout24”; MOTO-CHECK answers “what to look at before buying a second-hand motorcycle”. Keeping those intents separate avoids duplicating technical advice on every marketplace.

Contract, handover and updating the listing

When there is an agreement, check that the final description of the condition matches the motorcycle you hand over and the agreed accessories. Keep the contract, receipts and relevant communications as appropriate. Handing over keys and documentation should be part of a clear sequence, not an improvisation at the end of the viewing.

If the motorcycle keeps adding kilometres or changes condition while it is listed, update the listing. A repair, a drop, a removed accessory or a new set of tyres can make the photos and description obsolete. Accuracy is continuous.

When it is no longer available, remove or update the listing. Barguvo can help you organise a closing checklist, but publishing, contact, payment and paperwork remain with AutoScout24 and the corresponding official services.

A useful motorcycle listing should anticipate the questions specific to the category

Besides the basic data, a good motorcycle description usually needs context on maintenance, consumables, drops, modifications and accessories. Chain, rear sprocket, front sprocket, tyres, brake pads, battery or suspension may be relevant depending on the model, but do not turn the listing into a diagnosis if you have not measured their condition. Describe observable facts and available documentation.

On modified motorcycles, clearly distinguish original parts kept, components fitted and known documentary status. “Type-approved” requires a different basis from “fitted”. If you are handing over panniers, exhaust, screen or stock parts, list what is included in the price so that the viewing does not depend on an interpretation of the photos.

It is also worth disclosing uses that change expectations when they are material, for example track, off-road or long periods of inactivity, always in precise language. Transparency can reduce superficial enquiries and focus the listing on buyers who understand the real unit.

After publishing: mileage, consumables and configuration can change

A listed motorcycle may still be in use. If the kilometres go up, a tyre is changed, you have a service done or damage appears, update the listing. On motorcycles, small differences in configuration can be visible and relevant; a photo with an exhaust that is no longer included or panniers that have been removed can create a wrong expectation even if the old text was true when published.

Record ASKING changes and useful enquiries to learn from your own process. If several people ask about the same part or maintenance, add the answer to the listing. If a viewing uncovers something you had not documented, correct the listing before the next one.

When you close the sale, keep your documentation and remove the listing. Final quality is not measured only by getting a contact, but by whether the listing represented the motorcycle consistently from the first photo to the handover.

FAQ

Is listing a motorcycle on AutoScout24 free?

The current Spanish page shows “Anuncio básico gratuito” (free basic listing) on the motorcycle sales route.

Can SafeTrade be used for motorcycles?

R91 does not claim so: the current SafeTrade source documents used cars between private individuals, not motorcycles.

How many photos can I upload?

R91 does not freeze an exact number because the legacy figure of 15 photos lacks sufficient up-to-date confirmation.

Does Premium guarantee more buyers?

No. It is presented as a visibility upgrade; Barguvo does not promise a specific commercial result.

Are the prices of other motorcycles sold prices?

No. They are ASKING unless there is independent evidence of a completed transaction.

Does AutoScout24 verify the condition of the motorcycle because it is listed?

That should not be assumed. For inspection and history, use MOTO-CHECK.

Does Barguvo publish or take payment for the motorcycle?

No. Barguvo helps you prepare and review; the final action remains on AutoScout24 and the original services.
