What Marketplace is in this flow and what it is not
A listing creates an opportunity for contact; it does not turn Facebook into a universal protected checkout for Spain.
Facebook Marketplace is used to discover items, publish listings and connect people within the Facebook ecosystem. The official help distinguishes several ways of selling on Facebook and warns that some capabilities —for example, offering shipping— depend on where the person lives. For a Spanish guide, that sentence matters more than any generic internet tutorial: you should not automatically import a flow from the United States or Canada and present it as if it were the standard for every account in Spain.
In practice, the public listing, the profile and the Messenger conversation form the core of the journey. After that, the method of payment, collection or shipping may depend on the listing, the account and the region. Barguvo prepares information, compares evidence and helps you decide; it does not publish the listing, does not host the chat and does not process the payment. The final action takes place on the relevant original platform or channel.
If you see a payment, shipping, protection, AI or verification feature in your account, use it according to its actual terms. If it does not appear, this guide does not assume it should be available, nor does it suggest shortcuts to enable it.
Condition, proof and limits.
Real product and defects.
Consistent details.
On the original Facebook.
Clarify and negotiate.
Real payment/handover.
Before listing: permitted item, evidence and real condition
Listing starts before the form: check what you are selling, what you can prove and what you should not promise.
First, identify the item precisely enough: brand, model, variant, capacity, dimensions, approximate year where relevant, included accessories and known defects. If the category has restrictions, review the current Commerce Policies from Facebook before listing. The fact that an item is common on the second-hand market does not mean it is permitted in every category or circumstance.
Then separate three layers. What is declared is what you say in the listing; what is observable is what the photos and the product allow someone to check; what is provided are additional documents or evidence. If you do not know a detail, say so. Inventing a specification to complete the listing produces a seemingly more polished but less reliable listing.
Photos: show the product without misrepresenting it
Images should sell the presentation, not an improved version of the real condition.
Start with a clear view of the whole item and add angles that answer the questions a careful buyer would have. For electronics, show connectors, the screen switched on if possible and the model reference; for clothing, the label, size, fabric and areas of wear; for collectibles, the back, marks, edges and relevant details. A clean background helps, but it must not erase material context.
Barguvo’s photo rule is strict: AI may improve the presentation, but never alter the apparent condition, identity or real characteristics of the product. Adjusting framing or lighting may be acceptable if it does not change the colour or hide defects; removing a scratch, inventing an accessory or “rebuilding” a label is not. If a Meta tool or another AI proposes content based on the images, check the result against the physical item.
Overall condition, defects, labels, accessories and identifying features.
Framing, visual order or exposure only if they preserve the real product.
Colour, material, parts, geometry, wear or authenticity you cannot back up.
Title, category, location and description
A consistent listing reduces questions and prevents buyer and seller from negotiating over different items.
A good title identifies the item; it does not try to capture every possible search. Use terms that genuinely describe what you are selling and save the nuances for the description. In the body, explain condition, use, defects, what is included, what is not included and any material handover conditions. If the item requires a specific proof —for example, battery, size, mileage, partial serial number or compatibility— state it proportionately and without exposing sensitive data.
The location should be useful enough to plan a collection, but you do not need to publish a private address openly. You can specify the final meeting point once there is an interested person and the context is safe. Do not turn the listing into a permanent negotiation: the asking price, availability and basic conditions should be clear without dozens of messages.
Material facts any interested person should know before writing.
Clarifications, timing, specific questions and the final agreement; do not hide important defects here.
A single version of the product
If the description says “like new” and in Messenger you admit a fault, the public listing is incomplete. Correct it before you keep gathering interested buyers.
Price: active comparables without inventing completed sales
Visible listings help you understand asking prices; they do not prove what an item sold for.
On Facebook Marketplace you can find similar items and see what other people are asking. That figure is ASKING: a public expectation. It is not automatically SOLD, because an active listing does not prove the final price of a completed transaction. If you do not have a verifiable source of completed sales, do not turn a collection of listings into a supposed history of sold prices.
Asking price in an active listing.
Completed sale price with verifiable evidence.
Estimate from a specific source or method.
Explainable estimate with its assumptions and uncertainty.
Professional valuation where appropriate.
Compare the variant, condition, accessories, location and age of the listing. A similar but incomplete or damaged item does not mean the same thing. If you need to adjust the price, document why: “two active comparables are lower, but they do not include this accessory” is better than “the market says 200 €”.
Meta AI if it appears: suggestion, review and country gate
An automatic feature can speed up the listing, but it does not inherit authority over the item’s condition or value.
In March 2026 Meta announced AI tools for Marketplace able to create drafts from photos, complete details, suggest a price based on similar items and prepare automatic replies. The official announcement is framed around Marketplace in the United States and Canada and is not enough to turn all those features into universal availability in Spain. That is why this guide treats them as capabilities that may appear depending on country, account and rollout.
The tool creates a draft.
Compare with the real product.
Condition, category, price and text.
Only after validating.
A Meta AI price suggestion is a suggestion, not a completed sale, a professional valuation or a BARGUVO_ESTIMATE. The same applies to the text: if the AI describes it as “no marks” and there is a scratch, the editorial responsibility is to correct the listing. Automatic replies should also be reviewed when available; you do not want an automation confirming the wrong availability, location or price.
Meta launched Seller as a dedicated app for users in the United States aged 18 or over. Its instructions are not presented as a Spanish flow while that official limitation remains unchanged.
Listing and handling interest via Messenger
The conversation helps verify intent and details; Barguvo does not host it or send messages automatically.
After listing, questions should be answered with concrete information: availability, condition, dimensions, accessories, proof that it works and handover conditions. Facebook documents that access to Marketplace messages may be limited by region, excessive messaging or access/policy issues. This reinforces a practical rule: do not build a sales process that relies on mass automation or sending the same message at scale.
Keeping a conversation within Messenger can better preserve the context of the listing. Someone proposing another channel does not prove fraud on its own, but it does change traceability and may increase the verification work. Before leaving the flow, ask yourself what real advantage it brings and what evidence you lose.
Facts about the item and conditions you can meet.
Prepare a margin and a reply; do not auto-send offers.
Any payment or handover through the real channel, not by screenshot.
Negotiation: decide before improvising
A range set in advance prevents you from accepting a figure under pressure and reduces contradictory messages.
Set three reference points before negotiating: the listed price, a reasonable target and the minimum you would accept given the real conditions of the item. The minimum does not need to appear in the listing. Its role is to help you distinguish an offer that deserves a counter-offer from one that is not worth it. If the facts change —for example, you discover a defect or the buyer commits to immediate collection— you can recalculate.
Barguvo can prepare replies in different tones and help you structure a counter-offer, but it does not send offers automatically. On Facebook Marketplace, the final decision and the message must remain under the user’s control and within the platform’s authorised capabilities.
Compare it with your minimum and reply with a specific figure or condition if it is worth it.
Confirm what the item includes and how it will be handed over before considering the deal closed.
Do not change the payment or handover method just because the other person imposes an artificial deadline.
Payment, collection and shipping: use only the flow that really exists
A feature being available in another country does not create the same protection in your Spanish account.
Before handing over the item, identify who actually processes the payment and what evidence you can check directly. If it is a bank transfer or Bizum agreed between private individuals, check the deposit from your own bank, not from a screenshot or forwarded email. If your account shows a specific official Marketplace flow for payment or shipping, follow its current instructions and terms; do not extrapolate from what you see in tutorials from another region.
For in-person collection, choose a reasonable place, protect your private address when it is not needed and allow the item to be checked proportionately. For shipping, record the condition before packing, protect the product and use tracking where relevant. The guide does not promise universal Purchase Protection in Spain because R74 does not have enough evidence to fix it as a general feature of local P2P.
Does not confirm that the funds exist.
Check the current terms and territory.
Close when the payment and the item are verified according to the chosen flow.
Payment, shipping and protection are not universal
A US guide, a screen from another account or a product news item does not replace the real availability for your transaction in Spain.
Ratings and profile: context, not a guarantee
A good rating can provide information, but Meta does not verify that every rating comes from a purchase.
Facebook’s help states that seller ratings become public once there are five or more ratings. It also explicitly warns that it does not verify that the person rating has bought the product or used the service. So a high score can be a favourable contextual signal, but not a “verified purchase” in the sense used by other systems.
The same principle applies to profile age, number of friends or activity. They are observations, not guarantees. A legitimate profile can be compromised and a new person can be completely honest. Assess the consistency between the listing, the conversation, the evidence and the payment/handover flow.
Common mistakes before closing the listing
Most are not sophisticated tricks: they are skipped verification steps or information that was never corrected.
When you close or mark an item as sold, keep the information you need for your own records and delete personal data you no longer need. If the deal is not completed, reassess availability, price and condition before reactivating or editing the listing.
What has been revalidated for this edition
The guide separates current official facts from features that still depend on country, account or rollout.
R74 was reviewed on 25 August 2026 against Meta’s help on ways to sell, ratings, Marketplace safety, messaging limits and scraping, as well as the official 2026 announcements about Meta AI, Seller and Facebook Verified. The research sources and snapshots are kept in the checkpoint; they are not turned into visual labels within the guide.
The practical result is deliberately conservative: Marketplace and Messenger are part of the flow; shipping may depend on where you live; ratings are not equivalent to verified purchases; Seller remains announced for the United States 18+; Meta AI and Facebook Verified require a country gate before attributing availability in Spain; and checkout or Purchase Protection is not presented as universal P2P coverage in Spain.
Continue with the right guide
If you have already prepared the listing, separate the listing from the risk assessment and keep the same evidence.
FAQ
Does it cost money to list on Facebook Marketplace?
This reference does not fix a universal fee. Listing, promotions and features may vary by account, category, country and changes by Meta; review what your current flow shows before confirming.
Does Facebook handle payment or shipping in Spain?
It should not be assumed to be a universal flow. Meta states that some ways of selling, including offering shipping, depend on where you live. Use only the features that actually appear in your account and check their terms.
Which photos should I upload?
An overall view and enough detail to check condition, defects, labels, accessories and relevant features. Editing must not remove wear or alter colour, geometry or components.
How do I set a price if I only see active listings?
Treat those amounts as ASKING, not as SOLD. Compare variant, condition, accessories and location and keep the uncertainty; do not invent an average of completed sales.
Can I use Meta AI suggestions?
If the feature appears in your account, use it as a draft. Manually review the title, category, description, condition and price. An automatic suggestion is not a valuation or a completed sale.
What does a good seller rating mean?
It provides context, but Meta states that it does not verify that the person rating has bought the product or used the service. Do not turn it into a guarantee of safety or authenticity.
Can Barguvo list for me?
No. Barguvo can analyse the item and prepare the text, price and negotiation, but listing and messaging are done on Facebook or Messenger through the authorised flows.
List, chat and close the transaction from Facebook Marketplace or Messenger as appropriate.
