First identify which regime applies to you
private and business sellers have different published fees.
For a private seller registered in Spain, the current page states up to 150 free listings per month under the general regime and, for most transactions, a final value fee of 11,5% up to 2.000 € and 2% on the portion above that figure, plus a fixed fee per order and a regulatory operating fee of 0,42%. There are category exceptions and other possible fees.
For business sellers, the published structure is different: for most categories it shows 9% up to 990 € per item and 2% on the portion above that threshold, a per-order fee and a regulatory operating fee of 0,35%, with specific tables by category and shop. The figures for business sellers are shown excluding IVA (VAT) on that page.
Private seller: calculate in layers
do not just multiply the item price by a percentage.
The total amount of the sale may include the price, shipping, handling and applicable taxes, according to eBay's definition. That is why a calculation based only on the item's visible price can fall short.
Business seller: shop, category and IVA change the calculation
a private seller's table should not be reused for a business.
Business sellers have different listing fees without a shop, Shop packages with different allowances and prices, and fees by category. They must also bear in mind that the business page publishes its amounts excluding IVA.
If you sell regularly as a business activity, do not settle your classification simply by choosing the cheapest account. eBay has a specific policy for business sellers, and legal information and consumer obligations may apply regardless of the fees.
Barguvo can organise evidence and scenarios without carrying out actions on eBay.
International and conversion: the cost may appear after the base price
destination and currency matter.
For accounts with a registered address in Spain, eBay publishes different international fees depending on the delivery destination. On the private seller page observed, the Eurozone and Sweden are exempt; other zones have different percentages. Business sellers have another table.
When eBay converts funds, the current page publishes a 3% conversion fee for sellers with a registered address in Spain. Do not confuse it with a normal exchange rate fluctuation, and do not apply it if no conversion is carried out by eBay.
Calculation example: use scenarios, not false precision
the result depends on category and configuration.
Suppose you are looking at a sale of 100 € plus 10 € shipping as a private seller. The correct logic is to identify the “total amount” eBay will use, apply the current fee for that category, and add the fixed fee, the compliance fee and any international component or upgrade. The example helps you understand the order of steps, not replace eBay's real calculator.
Barguvo should show the user the sale price, shipping charged, actual shipping costs, platform fees and estimated net on separate lines. That transparency makes it possible to compare selling quickly at a lower price with waiting for a higher amount.
Common mistakes when talking about fees
an isolated figure can be technically true and still be misleading.
Incomplete: it changes by regime, category, band and other fees.
Listing may be free and there may still be a fee when you sell.
The total amount used for fees may include shipping/handling.
The business table is different and also publishes prices excluding IVA.
Freshness gate: what must be revalidated before publishing
fees are P0.
Barguvo calculates, eBay invoices
the estimate cannot be presented as a final invoice.
Barguvo can help you organise the evidence, calculate scenarios and prepare a decision, but the final action belongs to eBay. It does not publish listings, bid, buy, pay or send offers or messages on your behalf.
When a figure, time limit or programme depends on the category, account, country or the listing itself, the information eBay shows in that specific flow takes precedence. This reference is dated 25 August 2026 and was designed to require dynamic data to be revalidated before any real publication.
Cost cases: why the “eBay percentage” is not enough
the net changes even when two items have the same price.
Case one: two private sellers sell at 100 €, but one charges 5 € for shipping and the other 20 €. If the fee is calculated on the total amount according to the current definition, the base is not identical. In addition, the real cost of buying the label or paying the carrier may differ from the amount charged to the buyer. Barguvo must show gross income, platform fee, logistics cost and net as separate lines.
Case two: the buyer is outside the zone exempt from the international fee. The same price may produce a lower net than a domestic sale. If the transaction also involves currency conversion by eBay, another layer appears. This explains why comparing only the “sold price” across markets can be misleading for the seller.
Case three: a business seller uses a Shop. The monthly subscription should not be charged in full to a single sale if it is used for many listings; it is better to treat it as a fixed business cost or to apportion it using an explicit criterion. By contrast, an optional upgrade applied to a single listing does belong directly to that transaction.
Case four: a special category has a different fee from the general one. A serious calculator must start with the category and the regime, not with the best-known percentage on a page. If Barguvo is not certain of the category or the regime, it must say “incomplete estimate” and ask for the information, not apply a default figure.
Case five: the price exceeds a band threshold. The high or low percentage is not necessarily applied to the whole amount; the current page may define one percentage for one part and another for the amount above the threshold. That detail materially changes high-value sales.
Finally, separate platform cost from taxation. The fact that eBay charges a fee does not determine whether you have a tax obligation, and the fact that a platform reports data under a regulation does not by itself determine how much tax you owe. The FEES guide is limited to the cost of using eBay; in-depth taxation belongs to the cross-cutting content by country.
How to apply this guide to a real case without losing traceability
a good decision can be reconstructed later from a few clear pieces of evidence.
To use this guide in a real transaction, first create a minimal calculation record. There is no need to copy all of eBay: keep only the data that changes the decision. To calculate the net, the core fields are seller regime, category, total amount, destination and currency. If one is missing, mark it as unknown instead of filling it in with an assumption.
Every material claim should be traceable back to a piece of evidence: the fee page or data from the flow. If the data comes from the other party, label it as declared; if it appears directly in the listing or order, as observable; if you provide a photo or document, as evidence provided. “Confirmed” should be reserved for what has genuinely passed an appropriate check.
Also distinguish between the date of observation and the date of the event. A fee checked today may apply to a future sale under different conditions; a sale closed six months ago may still be comparable, but it is not a recent observation. This separation makes it possible to update the guide without rewriting history and avoids presenting old data as current.
When two sources conflict, do not automatically choose the figure that favours your goal. Prioritise the official source specific to the flow, check the country, category and date, and keep the conflict on record if you cannot resolve it. A specific checkout interface may be more specific than a general page; an old screenshot may be less reliable than the current help page.
The result must express the level of certainty. If the data is solid, you can give a direct recommendation; if important elements are missing, widen the range or ask for a specific check. If the evidence exists but is not enough to decide, use “inconclusive”. That label does not mean the same as “unknown”: in one case the evidence is insufficient and in the other the data is missing.
Finally, do not turn Barguvo's recommendation into the final charge. The assistant explains what evidence supports a decision, what uncertainty remains and what the next safe step is. The execution and the actual contractual status belong to the eBay flow or, where applicable, to the parties and the applicable law.
This approach also makes SEO maintenance easier. If eBay changes a figure or a feature, the affected block and its review date are updated without altering stable principles such as separating the asking price from the sold price, reputation from authenticity, or platform protection from legal rights. The guide stays useful even if the interface changes.
Before closing the transaction, do a reverse reading: imagine that a month from now you have to explain why you made that decision. If you cannot reconstruct it with the data you kept, traceability is missing. If you can do it with a few clear pieces of evidence, the process is sufficiently documented without turning an everyday purchase or sale into a disproportionate investigation.
Open the official help page or flow and confirm the specific details of your transaction.
